In a cynical moment I asked, “Do people go to hell for not voting?”
I don’t know the answer. I do know those who fail to vote are creators of hell.
I also know that those who diminish the value of their vote diminish:
The value of their citizenship
The value of their nation
And ultimately, the value of people composing their nation.
There are many marvelous excuses for not voting. Check the three boxes you feel are the best excuses
❏ I’m busy
❏ The weather
❏ What’s the use. My measly little vote doesn’t matter
❏ They’re all crooks anyway
❏ It’s too hard to research the candidates and issues
❏ Everything’s going to pot. It can’t be stopped
❏ Jesus will yank me out before it gets too bad

In colonial days there were dozens of rationals for not casting your lot for either the crown or the revolutionaries. The majority played the unaligned, uncommitted, lukewarm position. They may have said things like,
I don’t want be divisive
Some of my best friends are Torres
The abuses of the King are horrible but we can endure them
I’m allergic to bullets
Voting can be hard – like changing diapers, going to work, and mowing the lawn. So…?
I exhort you to put feet to your prayers, and put action to your convictions. Put yourself at risk and cast your vote with courage. Your vote can tip the scales.
