One of the most hilarious comic relief lines in Scripture comes from Elihu in the book of Job;
“Be assured that my words are not false;
one perfect in knowledge is with you” (Job 36:1-4.)
Elihu was trying to convince Job that he was a godless, arrogant sinner. If you are not rolling on the floor that line still must be good for an all-day smile.
Having the right religion, philosophy, cultural background or education does not insure that we will have perfect insight. All of us have elements of distortion or un-reality.
You misjudged the distance. You misconstrued the motive. You confused their name. You heard it wrong or believed erroneous “facts.” You arrived at mistaken conclusions.
The human condition is such that we have limited ability to perceive and interpret the universe. We all have acuity issues. We all see in part and we all look through mirrors with wobble.
It might be good for us to acknowledge:
My comprehension is only partial
There’s lots more for me to learn
I appreciate friends who give me better perspective
My trust is not in my wisdom but in my Father’s!
Remember, if you claim flawless perfection in your grasps of reality, you may give others a good giggle.
