A NEW GOLD STANDARD: HOLY TO THE LORD

SIFTING FOR GOLD

We had just landed in Anchorage. We were standing, leaning against our seats ready to walk out the isle. The man behind me was talking about searching for gold. This was his third season in Alaska and he had done rather well. He and his partner boated six days up a river for sifting.

He told us one year, after paying taxes on their gold, he and his partner netted $700,000 each. Not bad for four months work. As he spoke I heard the Lord say, “I am establishing a new Gold Standard.”

America went off the gold standard in 1971. The idea of restricting our money to the value of gold was stifling. People thought we would generate greater success with an economy built on debt. Fifty years later many are doubtful of that strategy’s success. In fact, there is a significant movement, even in White House circles, to move us back to a gold standard.

HOLINESS: A GOLDEN STANDARD

When the Lord told me, “I am establishing a new Gold Standard” I started to think about holiness. Holiness and gold are linked in Scripture.

AARON’S BREAST PLATE OVER HIS HEART WAS MADE OF GOLD

Ex 28:36  “Make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it as on a seal: HOLYTO THE LORD.

SOLOMON PANELED THE MOST HOLY PLACE WITH GOLD

2 Chron 3:8  He built the Most Holy Place, its length corresponding to the width of the temple — twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. He overlaid the inside with six hundred talents of pure  gold.

Think of this: A 30’ by 30’ room plated, with six hundred talents of gold. Do the math. A talent is 75 pounds. 75 X 600 = 45,000 pounds of gold! At $1716 for today’s spot price the value was $1,235,520,000.

And who got to see the gold in the Holy of Holies? Only two. The high priest and Almighty God!

THE HEART’S TREASURY

The heart is the place we keep our treasures of love, faith and courage, our secret thoughts and ambitions. You may speculate about what is in my heart, but ultimately only God and I know what is really there. And God understands my heart far better than I do!

In many ways the church went off the gold (holiness) standard. We did not want to be encumbered with the limitations holiness required. We said, “Perhaps we could be happier and more successful without holiness. Let’s give it a try. We want to be free!”  Of course, worldly “freedom” lead us into bondage.

The Creator of the Stars is establishing a new Gold Standard! Holiness is Golden. May our inner hearts be paneled with it!

I’d love to hear your perspectives. What does it mean when the Lord says, I am establishing a new Gold Standard?

Theresa’s Miracle: Building Faith World-Wide!

Two decades ago we were sharing on radio and TV shows the resurrection miracle of Jesus raising our daughter Theresa from the dead. Yesterday, for the first time in 20 years, I noticed half a million had viewed Sid Roth’s interview on youtube. It is gratifying to know this testimony has encouraged many others!

With Covid 19 in the news I thought it important to share a clip from Theresa’s book on Spiritual Warfare. “Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” Psalm 50:15

Thoughts on Spiritual Warfare

from Theresa: How God Orchestrated a Miracle

We named our first daughter Abundant Rose (Theresa Suzanne). I was mystified when I saw the paramedics roll her dead, gray body past us at the entrance to the ER. My heart’s impression, which I believed came from God, was that He would use Theresa Suzanne to win many to Jesus Christ. Her death at age two didn’t fit any of my concepts of how the Lord would use her life to bring folks into His kingdom.

Too often we assume that hardships and tragedies are always God’s will for us and should not be resisted. Sometimes, though, God permits the enemy of our souls to harass us in order to give us the opportunity to be overcomers–to overcome the enemy by exercising our faith. No way were we going to stand by passively while the enemy was dragging Theresa down to death. We were prepared to fight him tooth and claw, calling on the name of Him who is the Resurrection and the Life. Whatever the battle might cost us in exhaustion and frustration, we were determined to give it our best shot.

Jesus told us that Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but He came to give us abundant life (John 10:10). On the sunniest, cheeriest day there is a real but unseen enemy who is working to corrupt our lives with guilt, fear, anxiety, and misery. It is hard for us to appreciate how utterly wicked this adversary is. He loves to inflict loss, sorrow, and death. We have never been instructed in Scripture to lie down and let this fiend trample on us, or to accept his malice as the blessing of God. On the contrary, we are told to resist him, standing firmly in our faith.

It would be a lie to give you the impression that we snapped our fingers, said a prayer and quoted a Scripture or two and then everything was hunky-dory. Our battle was intense, protracted, and excessively draining. There was a time when I became a limp rag, soiled and threadbare. But at that time, I felt the body of Christ come and pick me up by the armpits and sustain me. Even with this support, it took us literally months to recuperate from the battle for Theresa and to regain our spiritual and emotional strength. Spiritual warfare is real warfare, and it takes its toll just as physical warfare does. Certainly, we are “MORE THAN CONQUERORS” in Christ, but I sometimes wonder at the cavalier attitude some people have about fighting Satan. I wonder how much of the thick of the battle they have really experienced, or is it just bold talk?

Victory in spiritual warfare never comes easily, at little cost. It cost Jesus His very life. So let’s be realistic, count the cost, and give our Lord heartfelt thanks and praise for enabling us to fight on His side for righteousness and goodness. His victory in the decisive Battle of Calvary has assured our final triumph in the age-long war!

Be encouraged!

BLIND SPOT: SHARING/RECEIVING CORRECTION

If your doctor discovered you had cancer would you want him to tell you?

If you had bad breath, body odor or your zipper was down would you want a friend to tell you?

If you were unaware you were heading into an accident or financial loss, and someone saw the danger, would you want them to tell you?

If you were unaware of an attitude or practice you had which needlessly hurt others, would you want to be told?

Thank God for friends who help us with our blind spots! Although the moments when others point out my blind spots can be humbling, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I don’t want to needlessly offend others or heedlessly stumble into calamity.

True kindness has to do with seeking the best for others, and on occasion, when it is in the best interest of others, to lovingly and sensitively point out the blind spots. Yes, there will be times when some may misunderstand your corrections and even resent them, but the majority will be greatly relieved to have a friend who loves them like you! At least, that’s the kind of friends I’d like to have!

May we truly be loving and humble when we point out the blind spots of others, and appreciative and humble when our own blind spots are pointed out! I find that only the mature, or those who wish to be, are able to receive correction graciously and then benefit from it in a fruitful way.

Let a righteous man strike me–that is a kindness; let him rebuke me–that is oil on my head. Psalm141:5a

Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who ignores reproof goes astray. Prov 10:17

Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you. Prov 9:8

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and every expression of evil, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls.  James 1:21

RIVERFRONT PROPERTY REVIEWS

Herman Melville, in his novel Moby Dick, wrote that “meditation and water are wedded forever.” In Riverfront Properties, Steven Johnson reveals to us—through his experiences, expertise, and putting together an abundant scriptural puzzle—that also wedded forever with water is revelation. Johnson’s prose flows and bursts with striking insight and childlike delight. If you, too, want to rush and gush with the Spirit, dive into and swim through this dripping book inspired by the River Master!  GP

The first half of the book contains an outstanding vision of the River of Life. The second half well-explains how to access Living Waters now, in the spiritual sense, even before we see a physical river flowing. Steven’s folksy, down-home style of writing was easy to understand and sets the reader at ease. Riverfront Property is a very fast read, and well worth the time for anyone who is curious about the flow of spiritual waters. I plan to request the author’s permission to teach from portions of this book in my own local church group.  MS

PUPPY LOVE

LISTEN TO THIS BLOG HERE

I was at a flea market and came by a booth that was selling puppies. They were cute little things in variegated colors and shapes. Some were actively sparring and wrestling. Some were sleeping, even while being stepped on by their siblings.

The lady at the booth had cupped one in her hand and was kissing its tiny head. I said, “God’s creatures, great and small.” She said, “Yes, they’re my babies and I love them.”

I walked away with this impression. What if God is taking the same tender delight in us, his tiny creatures? What if God has a case of puppy love toward us and he simply desires to cuddle us and kiss our little noggins?

What if God actually found us dear and darling rather than seeing us as a pile of stale, dirty, unwashed laundry? What if God could look past our poop and see us as cute?

We know from scripture that God is very serious about sin. But He is even more serious about caring for the creatures he has conceived. The puppies were going for $200 each. But our loving Savior Jesus really splurged, and paid quite a lot more for us. He did it because he found us precious. Perhaps he was overcome with puppy love.

PROTOCOL FOR ENTRY

Esther before King Ahasuerus. Fransesco Fontebasso, National Trust.

Is there a protocol for entering the Lord’s presence?

Tell us what you think!

If we were to visit with the President an aide would inform us of the timing of activities, where we will be walking in and moving to, and the process of greeting and speaking. And if we are petitioning for action on a matter we typically thank the President and then honor the President as we begin.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for your interest in the infrastructure of our highways. We honor you for your attentiveness to the safety of our citizens and the durability and longevity of our roads and bridges.”

There are times when we dial heaven’s 911 hotline and say without formality, “Lord, I’m in a crisis. Help, now!” The Lord is gracious and understands our pounding hearts looking for relief. But typically, there is a protocol for entering the King’s courts, even for Sons and Daughters, which involves thanksgiving and praise.

Psalms 100:4 says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Thanks and praise properly stages our entrance, helping us be grateful for the benefits we have received, and appreciative for the person who has brought those benefits.

When someone shares a gift with us we all know to be thankful, but we don’t always remember to “praise” or esteem the giver. A friend gives a gift. The first response is “Thanks you, kindly!” But our second response may be of praise.

“You are so thoughtful! You remembered my husband died a year ago. These were his favorite flowers!”

“You are so creative! Wow, to think of the time and skillful energy you put into this gift!”

“You are so generous! This is such a precious and valuable gift!”

SUGGESTIONS FOR ENTERING OUR HEAVENLY FRIENDS’ PRESENCE:

THANKS                               PRAISE

For safety                                I feel so secure with you as my protector!
For healing                             You are a compassionate physician!
For help in trouble                You are such an attentive comforter!
For solutions to problems    You are a river of wisdom!
For food and clothing           You are a caring provider!
For beauty                              You are so artfully creative!
For joy                                     Your love endures forever!
For abundant blessings        You are so generous!

“Give thanks to the Lord,     For his love endures forever.”

How wonderful that communion with God is just a breath away!

How do you enter in with Thanks and Praise?

DO YOU REMEMBER THE “I AM WITH YOU PRINCIPLE?”

A VISION OF PASSOVER BLOOD

Pam and I were in bed preparing for sleep. She had beaten me to the pillow. I was reading a book with a light beside me. I put the book down and looked across the room to the door and ceiling. Then I had a vision.

I saw an old clay bowl full of blood. Then a leafy branch was being dipped into it. The bloody branch painted the door jams and lentil. As I was seeing this vision I assumed Pam had fallen asleep. Then she began to pray, “Lord, may You take the blood and put it upon our doorpost.“ Pretty remarkable! The experience left an impression.

“Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning.”  Ex 12:22

God told Israel to put the blood on the doorposts. Keeping it in a bowl was not enough. The angel of death would need to see the blood applied on the posts in order to pass over.

We apply ointment to aching muscles.

We apply math formulas to build.

We apply action to diet and exercise plans.

The blood applied makes all the difference!

We should meditate daily on the Passion and Victory of our Lord! Pam and I have been sharing communion daily. I touch our home’s door frames and affirm the covering of our Lord’s blood. Do you have ways to remind yourselves of Christ’s atoning blood?

In my early days as a believer many preachers talked about the blood of the Lord Jesus. In recent decades we hear less of our ruby-red hope. Of course, if you wish to study the potency of Christ’s blood there is a treasury of Scripture. Here are a few clips from Hebrews for your fortification.

Heb 9:11-14 But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Heb 10:19-22 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Heb 12:24 …to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Heb 13:12 And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.

Heb 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

May His Spirit show us what applications to make today of His cleansing, protective, life-giving blood so we may rest safe and secure in Yeshua!!!

Tell us how you make applications of our Savior’s vibrant life-giving blood.

Listen to “Leveraging Crimson” an affirmation of the Blood of Jesus from an earlier post HERE.

JUDO AND THE CORONAVIRUS

How can we leverage Covid-19? Some investors are making lots of money by investing in services and products used in treatments, or by capitalizing on the fears of others. But what can we as Christians do to leverage the Coronavirus for the King and His Kingdom?

               The coronavirus has brought us:

Genuine sickness and death – and the threat of more

Financial loss – and the threat of more

Isolation and loneliness – and the threat of more

“The threat of more” the past couple weeks has been the fearmonger’s paradise.  Heaven’s intent is that the threat be transformed into “the promise of more!” We have been given authority and power to leverage fearful threats for good.

Social distancing may protect us from disease but it does not cure fear. In fact, being mindful of social distancing is an opportunity for fear to go viral.

Judo uses the energy of the attacker to our advantage. What if, using our spiritual Judo skills, we absolutely magnified, as much as we could, the possibility that we and our families could all get sick and die? What if we pulled that fear toward us, took a side step, and pulled that fear, tripping past us, into Jesus’ refining fire? Toasted fears! The same move could be used with other “threats of more.”

One strategy to overcome fear is to try to minimize. Another is to magnify the fears as valid and send them on to Jesus for His judgement. What if we told the fearmongers, “You can’t possibly know how really bad it could become! And, you simply can’t imagine how Jesus’ consuming fire disintegrates those monstrous fears!”

When fearsome threats come we don’t deny them. We leverage their energy and send them on for Heaven’s judgement! By doing so we end up:

Healthy and vigorous – with the promise of more!

Financially strong – with the promise of more!

Socially connected – with the promise of more!

What Biblical martial arts moves do you make when “the threat of more” comes menacing?

JESUS DEFIES QUARANTINE!

Jesus “broke” the quarantine rules of the day, but got away with it!

According to Moses, lepers were to be isolated outside the camp. No one got close to lepers. It was revolting and unthinkable. If you accidently came in contact with a leper there were all sorts of religious cleansings you were obligated to observe. But Jesus touched the leper and got away with it, because as soon as he touched him the leper was a leper no more.

Only the closest of family were to touch dead bodies. If you touched a dead body there were rituals of cleansing and sacrifice to follow. But Jesus got away with it, because when he touched the dead they came to life.

To be touched by a woman with an issue of blood was to be defiled. There were rituals to follow in order to be cleansed. But Jesus was touched by a woman unclean because of a persistent bleeding problem. Yes, he was touched and would have been contaminated according to the law, but the woman who touched Him was no longer defiled.

The Covid 19 virus would not have been diagnosed in Jesus’ day. One thing we know is that people were brought to Jesus with all kinds of diseases, including the corona viruses of the day. Jesus was not afraid of become defiled and contaminated. When the sick touched Jesus they “contracted” Jesus’ vitalizing health!

There is a day when Jesus will walk through the graveyards. He will not be contaminated by doing this because the dead will rise!  Jesus did not actually break or degrade Moses’ law by breaking quarantine. He transcended and superseded it  with a superior covenant of love and power!

Today non-Christians don’t think of bringing their sick to a church for prayer. They know most Christians are powerless to help. It will not always be that way. The Church is laying hold of the “greater things!”

I am not suggesting you expose yourself to people defiled by Covid 19. Unless, of course, you possess Jesus’ revitalizing health to bring the cure.

Acts 5:15 “As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid

them on beds and mats so that at least

Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.“

WHAT DO YOU THINK? Are we to be satisfied with the present state of the Church’s power or are we to go up to new levels?

Stretching with you for greater things!
