I enjoy flying. I enjoy feeling the acceleration push me back and then down into the seat as the plane powers up. I get a rush from the speed, the perspective, the novelty and the wide open spaces.
It is important for believers to get airborne. In fact the only way to get into the Kingdom is to be born from above (or born again). Flapping our arms by trying to be good boy scouts or girl scouts doesn’t do the job. We need the aeronautic secrets of heaven, hidden in Christ, to overcome the gravity of sin and drag of condemnation.
The older I get the more I see that only the grace of Christ can lift us, not just ultimately but in the day to day. We can take lessons from other saints who have gone aerial. They humbled themselves before God and He took them up!
Ezekiel was caught up by a lock of his hair
John was transported through a door into heaven
Enoch was taken and Elijah was caught up
Paul had unspeakable heavenly experiences
I hope you have had some as well!
I still puzzle over what Paul said in Ephesian 2:6; “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” More and more I crave third heaven perspectives of reality and believe our Lord wishes to accommodate us.
Fasten your safety belts, please!
